The Gift Translator: What are your gifts saying?

Tuesday, November 20th, 2012 | Article by: Jason

Every gift sends a message. For instance, if you give someone a new cell phone what you’re really saying is: “Now you have to pick up anytime I call.” Jewelry says: “Your acceptance of this present requires you to forgive me for up to three offenses.” A blender says: “Next time I visit I expect a well-blended daiquiri.” Don’t disappoint your friends or family with a gift that sends the wrong message. Learn the language of gift giving with this handy Gift Translator. Here is a list of gifts and what you’re really saying by giving them…

Top 5 Personalized Gifts

Monday, November 19th, 2012 | Article by: Jason

Choosing the perfect gift among a sea of nondescript offerings can be challenging. When you want to give the perfect gift, give one that’s personalized or custom-made. Before you read any further, let me dispel the myth that all personalized gifts are expensive. At Pictures Plus all our custom-made products are made centrally at our factory on Oahu by experienced artisans. This is the most efficient way of making custom products. What that means for you is the best price on custom made products such as custom frames, 3-D acrylic showcases and personalized laser engraved products.

Here’s a list of our five favorite personalized presents. We guarantee that these memorable items will not be re-gifted.

1. Custom Frames

A super-special present for Mom.

Take just about any special memento and put a custom frame around it. You just turned that memento into a story-telling work of art that can be displayed for generations. And don’t assume that just because something is three-dimensional that we can’t frame it. As our designers like to say “You name it, we frame it”. Note: normal turnaround time to complete a custom order is 7-10 days on Oahu and 2-3 week on Neighbor Islands.

2. Engravable Koa Keepsake Box

4. Engravable Frames

Plain Jane frames not getting the right message across? Say what you want loud and clear with engravable frames. Pictures Plus has a variety of frames available to be laser engraved. Just look for the “Engravable” tag displayed next to select ready-made frames and let one of the friendly designers know what you would like the frame to say. Note: personalized orders usually take up to 7 days for Oahu and up to 2 weeks for Neighbor Islands.

5. Canvas Prints

Gallery wrapped prints starting at $34.95.

If you’re like most people, you have thousands of digital images on your hard drive and the number of those images that you have printed is close to zero. Show your loved ones how special those photos are to you by turning them into works of art on canvas and giving them as gifts. Gifts don’t get much more personal and special than that! Ordering is easy – order online or drop by any Pictures Plus location. If you don’t have your images in a digital format, don’t fret – we can scan your prints too (max scan size: 8″ x 10″). Note: canvas prints take up to 7 days for Oahu and up to 2 weeks for Neighbor Islands.

Happy Kamehameha Day!

Categories: Uncategorized
Friday, June 10th, 2011 | Article by: Jason

Kamehameha Day on June 11th is a State holiday celebrated in Hawai‘i. It was first established by royal decree by Kamehameha V in 1871 to honor his great grandfather, Kamehameha the Great.  Kamehameha is credited with uniting the Islands of Hawai‘i. His ambition and knack for diplomacy earned him the title “Napoleon of the Pacific” among westerners. King Kamehameha’s full name is Kalani Paiʻea Wohi o Kaleikini Kealiʻikui Kamehameha o ʻIolani i Kaiwikapu kaui Ka Liholiho Kūnuiākea.

You can celebrate Kamehameha Day by taking part in a number of events that harken back to ancient Hawai‘i such as floral parades and hula competitions. Or you can visit the statue of King Kamehameha in front of Ali‘iolani Hale or ‘Iolani Palace and place your lei on the King. However you decide to celebrate, please have a fun and safe Kamehameha Day!
